As serious games go, Warhammer Quest: Cursed City isn’t that complicated. But to non-gamer-types (like me), it’s tricky to remember to do everything. Not to mention doing it in the right order!
I’ll update this page as the steps are refined. Also, these steps are Rules-As-Written, feel free to house-rule as you like.
Here’s my attempt to memorialize the WQCCOoO:
- Check for strategic gambit benefits
- Check for player gambit benefits
- Check for gambit free or discounted actions
- Roll Destiny Dice and apply any existing modifiers
- Check for Destiny Dice buffs
- Roll Activation Dice
- Check for player Activation Dice buffs
- Check for cross-player Activation Dice buffs
- Review available Player Skills
- Remember to roll for Inspiration after combat
- Set Reaction Dice
- Remember to use Reaction Dice
Hostiles
- Check if the active hostile group is driven-off
- Check if hostile buffs apply, e.g., reroll misses
- Check if other models are activated by this group
- Check if special actions/attacks apply
- Follow behavior/combat rules
- Remember to reactivate hostiles if required, e.g., their boss is present
- If a driven off hostile group activates, remove driven-off models & encounter card, replace with face-down encounter card
- If a face-down encounter card activates, flip it face-up and deploy hostiles accordingly
Then after all this is over, roll the quest die on the Event table, and apply effects.
