Combat Arena: Lair of the Beast Our first try with this iteration. We usually play Gorechosen. We made a bunch of mistakes but still had fun. Next time we’ll fight each other as well as the Ambull.

More Blackstone Fortress! Descent! This was our last Stronghold before the Hidden Vault. We’re almost done with the core game, assuming we survive…

A few weeks ago I wrote about the Gargoylian in Cursed City. Since then, I’m still thinking about gargoylians. Specifically, do I need to acquire more gargoylian models? The first step is, what sets come with these adorably blood-thirsty magical creatures? Quick note: The Cities of Sigmar Army box and Spearhead box both recycle the Cavaliers, so there are no unique gargoylians to be had there. I’ve identified five sets that come with gargoylians, with eleven total models: Freeguild Cavaliers Now, most people will tell you that this set comes with one gargoylian. I believe it comes with two. Look at that weird bird thing! Have you ever seen a bird with a chin?! GARGOYLIAN! Tahlia Vedra Lioness-of-the Parch This is a big hero model but Warhammer.com pictures don’t have a good shot of the gargoylian, so here’s a painted up version over at CAM2D at Tumblr. Blackstone Fortress! We’re about to descend into the Null Gravity Abyss!

Cursed City is a beautiful game. The artwork is incredible. There is an air of mystery, misery, and despair cloaking every facet of the game. The cards and components are darkly beautiful. The marketing art is iconic. Saying nothing about the miniatures either, which are a cut above even GW’s high standards. I’ve included some of my favorite images below. Save a moment in time while our kids are little, our friends and family are close, and we’ve snapshoted ourselves. But it’s easier to buy than to build, so projects can build up. The magic gets diluted,…

Welcome to a new segment called: Whats on the Table?! This is a retroactive picture-post of the tabletop, day of game. Tonight’s edition is the approach to the Blackstone Fortress stronghold: The Null Gravity Abyss.

Here’s a poor picture of quick paint jobs on some proxies for the retinue characters the Broggan Brothers in Blackstone Fortress. These guys are House Bharteth – Law Enforcement Ogre/Ogryns I was going back and forth between those and these. I went with the House Bharthen models because I liked their look just a bit more. Some passable free options are here, and here.
