Follow-up on mini painting priorities

Follow-up on mini painting priorities

Back in November I revamped my hobby priorities. No more hoarding unassembled models…

So now, six months later, I have a bunch of assembled, unpainted models. Which, I actually feel better about that a bunch of stuff still in the box. I can touch and see them, even throw them into a game if I want (sure, that doesn’t happen much, unpainted minis! Eww!).

Since I just finished painting everything (except for a few expansion stragglers) for Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower, I don’t have any really pressing hobby demands.

So here’s my updated, current priority list:

Games workshop display pieces

I have a number of nice GW minis that aren’t necessarily ones I’d use in a game. They are however, very cool, in my opinion. These are the minis I’d be sad if I never painted, even if they’re not particularly “useful”. Gotrek, Felix, Grombrindal, and Jakkob Bugmansson XI.

Double whammy! I have some new stuff too. Feels like a good-news-bad-news situation: lots of great models, but it’ll take a while to get through them all. Definitely not insurmountable though! Right? Right?!?

Wizards

Oh boy. I did this to myself. I do indeed have too many wizards. Shoot, and this reminds me that I have even more. I have the Battlemage set. I did complete Morrvahl Olberecht from that set though! I have a dozen+ wizards to paint.

But I saw this on reddit and had to have them all. What can I say?

Official WHQ Characters

Next up are official Warhammer Quest hero models. This is a good sized group, too. Advanced Heroquest dwarf added in for good measure.

Slambo Collection

The long list continues with more vintage (and some new) models. Bonus here too with the Ironclad Imp!

What I’d like to do is try a couple dirty, dingy, grimdark paint jobs on the resin prints (far left & right) before tackling the legit Slambos. I found some paint jobs online that are awesome, but outside my norm.

Cursed City Nemesis

I’m definitely a while out from playing Nemesis, considering we haven’t started Nightwars yet. But having a completed squad of skeleton warriors would be a versitile addition to my collection. Also, vargheists are cool. I bought the Wight King model a couple years ago in Denver, and it’d be great to close the loop on that one.

Merry Squigmas

I wrote about this Cursed City addon a couple of times: https://cutandassemble.com/a-most-un-silent-night and https://cutandassemble.com/da-red-gobbo

Good news is that I don’t think these will take too long.

Blitz Bowl

A couple creepy teams are waiting for October to roll around again. Two vintage halfling teams are unpictured, yipe.

Bonus, referees!

A mountain of printed resin.

Some of these are really nice, but I’m not dependent on them to be done any time soon. Red Gobbo minis are duplicated in this photo. The Servants of the Abyss are in there on the left for Blackstone Fortress. Those are higher priority than any of the resin minis.

Extra, added bonuses

The chaos warrior is really too new for me to have seen it back in the day, but I still like it.

These Silver Tower expansion heroes are still hanging on.

Oh, and I almost forgot about my medium sized pile o’ lead, unpictured. I have my hobby work cut out for me. But look at them all, nearly all primed and/or undercoated and ready to paint!
