We play Blitz Bowl in my house, but they’re the same minis.
If you’ve ever wondered what GW minis would look like if they were infused with 50% more whimsy, take a look at the entire Blood Bowl lineup.
When I was a kid, I didn’t like the idea of sworn mortal enemies playing a game with each other. There should be swords and blood!
But now, in my dottering old age, I appreciate the silliness. The whimsy, even. Who knows why that goblin has a chainsaw, or pogo stick? I don’t, but isn’t he cute?!

The Teams
Here’s the current roster of BB teams. They’re all pretty great in their own ways. Now, GW has made Blood Bowl teams for decades. Made of metal before they were plastic. All kinds of little guys, full of character, in contrast with…

The Big Guys
Some teams get the “benefit” of Big Guys. I’m using quotes because I played a BB game with a treeman with my halflings. I can’t say it went well. It was hilarious. But no, I didn’t win. The treeman kept picking up halflings and flinging them across the field (pitch), gruesomely mangling their pudgy little bodies.

Why didn’t I stop this you ask? We’ll, all the halflings were lining up to be thrown. Hoping against hope that they’d land on their furry little feet. No such luck. Maybe if I had a…
Star Player
Blitz Bowl has no mechanic for Star Players, so I have no idea what they do in a game. But I love the minis. You had me at Grombrindal. And Bugman.

Sadly, many of these star players are out of print. But! Cindy Piewhistle & Puggy Baconbreath are still available! I have a much more diminutive version of Puggy in white metal. He’s patiently waiting to be painted and get back on the pitch (field).

So, I say: don’t be too serious, and enjoy some silliness now and then! Stop and smell the minis, figuratively speaking, of course.
