Callis & Toll – Saviors of Cinderfall Cursed City heroes
In case you missed it, Callis and Toll are coming to Warhammer Quest: Cursed City. Now I’m not personally acquainted with these heroes, I haven’t read any of the books featuring them, but apparently they did well in Cinderfall. White Dwarf magazine has included Cursed City content in several recent releases. Callis & Toll, however, are available as a free download from Warhammer Community: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2024/03/05/callis-and-toll-who-are-the-witch-hunting-city-saving-heroes-of-the-mortal-realms/ I’m OK with this. White Dwarf expansion content is more difficult to get on the table. First you have to just get the magazine! Then scan the pages, then print, then make cards. I actually don’t mind too much, but it can be a lot. Warhammer Community content though, is already PDF’d and ready to print size-accurate, color-correct cards at home. This saves multiple steps and $11. These new heroes are going to be BRUTAL. They aren’t as powerful as the Army of One characters…
PrismaCast looks so good
If you haven’t seen what Dungeons & Lasers is doing over at Archon Studio, you need to check it out on Game Found: https://gamefound.com/en/projects/archon-studio/caves?ref=creator PrismaCast terrain looks amazing! Always Board and Dana Howl have videos out showcasing the pre-painted terrain. Here’s the technology behind it: https://archon-studio.com/blog/prismacast-a-revelation-in-rpg-terrain-marke Now, I’m a do-it-yourself kind of guy, and I often pinch pennies unnecessarily. But the value and ready playability of these sets looks worth the price if you’re in the market for that type of terrain. I wouldn’t say that if the paint jobs weren’t up to snuff, but after watching those videos, I’d say the product looks legit. 3D printing terrain works pretty well, but it’s a slow process and then requires paint to look it’s best. The new Dungeons & Lasers line looks great right out of the box. Am I going to buy any? Nope. I’m DragonLock-ed into my current systems. …
Ghoulish Models
Updated 4/12/2024 with the recent Errata The ghoulish models that Games Workshop included in White Dwarf 497–498 are so indistinguishable that even GW got mixed up and didn’t include all of them in the magazines. I’ve gathered the brightest minds of our generation to make sense of what is necessary to acquire the models to play the game (though rules for the Crypt Haunter Courtiers are completely omitted from the scenarios). If you haven’t seen Always Board Never Boring‘s take on the magazines, they’re right here: It’s pretty pricy to get into this. Keep in mind, the entire base game costs $199.00 (+tax) and can be found for less everywhere besides the GW webstore. If you buy all kits separately, you’re looking at $318.50 plus tax. The Model breakdown: Quantity $ Per Model Total Description 1 $35.00 $35.00 Royal Decapitator 1 $35.00 $35.00 Marrowscroll Herald 1 $33.50 $33.50 Abhorrant Archregent…
Know your Ghouls!
It took me a bit to understand the multi-faceted Crypt Horror/Crypt Infernal Courtier/Crypt Flayer/Crypt Haunter Courtier/Vargheist kit. I picked up one of these a while ago for Cursed City Nemesis. Little did I know about how versatile it is! First, the most basic is the Crypt Horror. Notice it has no wings, no necklace, no back spikes, and a human-adjacent face. In direct contrast is the Crypt Infernal Courtier. This guy has 4 wings, back spikes and a very fashionable necklace. Toning it down a bit is the Crypt Flayer. Still with the humanoid face, but no major back spikes (besides a very stately spinal ridge), and one pair of wings. He has dropped the jewelry too, for a more streamlined look. Kicking it back up a notch is the Crypt Haunter Courtier. This fellow sports no wings, but makes up for it with plenty of spikes and the first…
My favorite Cursed City links
This is a list of my favorite Cursed City content to be found online (before it slowly fades from the web) General links and reviewshttps://ageofminiatures.com/warhammer-quest-cursed-city-review/http://crusadersgames.co.uk/board-games/warhammer-quest-cursed-city/http://crusadersgames.co.uk/board-games/cursed-city-variants-expansions/https://www.facebook.com/groups/warhammerquestcursedcity/permalink/505246610642698/ Paintinghttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLuXutopW60b6Ut_BPVsdZjZ3kyaOm-E9Bhttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLEaPE4sLDA7sayMEZzOkC1FsK_HF0VjQghttps://mulgam.cinsk.org/tag/cursed-city
Which Way? Kickstarter!
I made my own game system! It’s a tiny zine game that can fit in your pocket. All you need is the game booklet, a D12 and a pen/pencil. On this site I’ll provide support and potentially updates depending on demand. I hope everyone enjoys playing the game as much as I enjoyed making it! The game is available here, in the store: https://cutandassemble.com/product/which-way
More Slambo
A google search on John Blanche’s Knight Panther painting brought me back to Between the Bolter and Me. Love the freehand. So great!
2023 Hobby Update
So if you can’t tell, the One Page Rules review is on hold. Turns out my FEP was totally shot in the middle and I was getting lots of failed prints. At first I though it was an issue with the minis/supports/etc. because I hadn’t really been having issues. But yup, the FEP was scratched up so badly right in the center that it stopped anything from sticking to the build plate. So after getting that changed out I was back in business! Though that’s when I shifted to Warhammer Quest minis almost entirely. Oh yeah, and we also moved practically everything in our house. We shifted the use of half the rooms in the house. Swapped, moved, disassembled, reassembled and we’re pretty much almost done with that. It felt like moving, but moving into the same house again. Did I mention that I have my very own game-space in…
The best thing I’ve read on the internet all year
This may be an unflattering review of a Warhammer Quest property, but the article and the related discussion are the best thing I’ve read online all year. https://www.quartertothree.com/fp/2019/01/31/blackstone-fortress-has-plenty-of-figures-but-not-much-character/
One Page Rules – Still Printing!
I’m still working on the OPR print-a-thon. They’ve dropped two new minis since I started!
