Deathwatch Overkill: 40K Adjacent

Deathwatch Overkill: 40K Adjacent

I’m still not a huge 40K kind of guy. I’m drifting a bit that way, but it’s pretty slow.

I think that’s why Deathwatch Overkill appeals to me. It’s a ten year old boxed game at this point. You don’t have to use a tape measure. Line of sight is never an issue and there’s no cover. So far, my inner lightweight gamer is onboard. The minis are pretty sweet too.

I have a couple White Dwarf magazines with DWOK content, which also piqued my interest.

So I jumped in. I was fortunate to find an unpunched (though there’s nothing to punch, only minis and cards) edition for a reasonable amount of doubloons.

White Dwarf ran some expansion content that has an absolutely cracker-jack rundown at the Blasted Horizons blog. Linked on that page is also the full breakdown of the core game.

So now I have more minis to assemble and paint. I considered buying the expansion minis, but that was a pretty steep pricetag for expansion material for a game I’ve never played.

My 3D printer is still mothballed. Printing proxies for this game has me tempted to fire it back up. We’ll see what the future holds, though hobby time is definitely at a premium these days.
