Today is Warhammer Quest Day, in a way.
Pre-orders for Warhammer Quest: Darkwater go live today at 1:00 pm EST.
I’m looking forward to the game system that I care most about getting some coverage.
I, and the whole world, expect the game to sell well. Despite a price tag that rivals an eBay copy of Warhammer Quest 1995. I’m hoping for a good, fun game, despite some obvious cutbacks. The board-book is unproven (for WHQ), the new character and activation system looks “a bit clockwork” as a youtuber described it.
Removing unnecessary grind from the game is a good thing. Cursed City was bloated with grind out of the box. Luckily that is easy to skirt, just play the missions that you want, based on your level.
We’ll see. Fingers crossed.
Word on the street is that there are no special incentives to pre-order. No limited edition foil character cards. No games master screen. No key to the Jade Abbey. Oh well, maybe there’ll be a surprise. Though GW isn’t renown for their generosity.
Here’s all the Warhammer Community articles about Darkwater.
Like Cursed City, Darkwater has been pretty hyped. There have been a ton of Warhammer Community articles. So many that I haven’t been able to cover them all. The best one might be the designer’s marketing, I mean commentary. Though the most recent one with community painted minis might win the top spot for now.
Expansion-wise, there’s hope. I know right? I’m talking about expansions and the game isn’t even out yet. New characters only require a card and a mini (agnostic/proxy). New settings may require a map book (GW: “$$$”). New encounters and treasure only need cards
I’ve been fortunate enough to receive a White Dwarf subscription for the past year and a half. Sadly, there has been zero WHQ content in that time. I’m looking forward to the game system that I care most about getting some coverage.
So put me down as “cautiously optimistic”.
