Print and Play Warhammer Quest

For those of you that have never experienced Warhammer Quest, you are missing out. I suppose by modern standards the game is a little dated. But hey, it did come out in 1995. I’d say it’s aged pretty well. Just look at all this!

So I set out to make my own copy because original copies are scarce and expensive. I started gathering files 10+ years ago but never printed anything out. Then I found I had some time on my hands starting in early 2020 so I got to work in earnest. Research. Searching. Scouring the web. I read and watched as much as I could about this elusive beast. Then came the 2D printing, and finally after getting a 3D printer for Christmas, the miniatures. There was a time there, a few hundred hours in where I had the thought:

I sure hope I like this game I’m dedicating my life to but have never played.

Me

Turns out, I do. I love this game. It’s great. It can be as big or as little as you want. It can be brutally punishing, or your Dwarf Stonemaster can find the objective room only half full of bats and rats in five minutes.

Goals

To make print and play easier, to correct obvious factual errors, but not to make rule changes. To Recreate the original Warhammer Quest retail box set Print everything in the WHQ – Core Game (Complete) folder. When printing cards, take note of the card backs. Some files have a 1:1 front to back ratio. Other files will require a specific document page with the backs to be printed multiple times. Standardizing these files exceeds my tedium threshold. The cards I printed with these files fit into 64×89 mm trading card sleeves. To the best of my knowledge, I printed all PDFs at “Actual Size”. Board section squares printed at 30mm for me. Use your best judgment and print preview to check the layout. These files were laid out using English (inch) units.

Additional Rules and Cards

If you are new to the game, these are completely optional but can be added to enhance gameplay.

There are many expansions and supplements to Warhammer Quest. I have included the canon expansions and characters except for the Warrior Priest. I don’t have a scanned copy of the Warrior Priest booklet. I will gladly post it if one becomes available.

The character booklets are setup to print well in “Booklet” setting. Print cards and tokens separately from the booklets.

Miscellany
This is a bit of an anachronism, but fonts were usually included separately from documents. I don’t know if they’re strictly necessary anymore, but they might be needed if you see ugly text in the WHQ documents.
